Take Action Post Hurricane Sandy: Accepting Donations through December 22nd

While Hurricane Sandy is over, the recovery from its devastating effects will likely take months to years in many places. Now is the time to engage in the sacred work of tikkun olam, the repair of the world. We at CKS can help people who have sustained serious losses from this storm. Through December 2nd, we will be collecting the following items which will be sent to people who need assistance.

The following list of items have been requested by aid agencies: Blankets, candles, flashlights, batteries (especially Ds), lights, water, diapers and wipes, gloves and masks, rubber boots ,shovels, cleaning supplies and bleach, trash bags, serving dishes and utensils, anything that produces heat.

The CKS Food Drive Is Under Way: the following foods are requested – canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats, canned spaghetti, cereal (hot/cold), peanut butter, jelly, juice, macaroni & cheese, Parmalat Milk, soup, spaghetti sauce and pasta, tuna, snacks for kids. Food donations will be delivered to Somerset Food Bank as well as hurricane victims.

Please drop off all donations in the collection box in the CKS lobby. We will be accepting donations through December 22nd.

Blood donations are also needed as many blood drives were cancelled due to the storm. UMC at Princeton, Somerset Hospital and the American Red Cross all offer blood donation programs.
