Letter to Kehi-Loft Students

Dear Kehi-Loft students,

The new school year is about to begin! I'd like to extend a hearty hello to all our new Kehi-Loft students and a welcome back to our returning students. The year ahead will be full of new opportunities for all of you. Kehi-Loft is a place for you to reconnect with your Jewish classmates, begin new friendships with other students in our temple, learn about Judaism, practice tikkun olam, and to explore topics as diverse as current events and Jewish history. You will be able to shape the curriculum according to the interests of the group. At the beginning of the year you will be asked to make suggestions about topics that you might want to explore during the year. The class will vote together on areas of interest to be studied during the year.

Kehi-Loft is a social and educational program for you, the post b'nei mitzvah student of CKS. Your classes will take place in our own private space, the Kehi-Loft! Last year the Kehi-Loft students converted the balcony into a space for themselves. A new floor was built, new carpet was installed, and soft couches and cushions replaced the metal folding chairs. It's beautiful!

Once a month you'll meet for a casual evening of socializing. With music playing in the background, you can have dinner, chat, play games, and relax together.

In addition to discussions and social nights, Kehi-Loft students will have the opportunity to lead several Shabbat services and help with CKS wide events. You will write and present the d'var torah at each of the Kehi-Loft led services plus lead the congregation in prayer. You will be able to help the Kehi-Loft program by participating in the fall and spring car wash, as well as lending a hand at our annual CKS yard sale and other events that take place during the year. Plus, on September 19th the Kehi-Loft students are being honored with an aliyah on Rosh Hashanah.

There's much to look forward to! I can't wait to get started. By the way, if you haven't registered yet, please do so by contacting Robin in the office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The tentative 2009-2010 calendar for Kehi-Loft is available by email. The first event is just around the corner on Sunday, Sept 13! There's a Kehi-Loft car wash starting at 9:00, followed by the annual CKS fall BBQ, and then the first session of Kehi-Loft. See you there!

Regards,

Karen Fridkis

Director of Kehi-Loft
