Congregation Kehilat Shalom of Belle Mead will hold a screening of Blessed is the Match: The Story of Hannah Senesh on Saturday, November 13, 2010, beginning at 6:45 PM. The film, produced and directed by Roberta Grossman, is narrated by three-time academy award winner Joan Allen. Blessed is the Match is the first documentary feature about Hannah Senesh, the World War II-era poet and diarist who became a paratrooper, resistance fighter, and modern-day Joan of Arc. Through her brief but noteworthy life, Hannah Senesh became a symbol of idealism and self-sacrifice. Her poems, made famous in part because of her unfortunate death, reveal a woman imbued with hope, even in the face of adverse circumstances.

There will be a brief introduction by Rabbi Susan Falk. Margit Feldman, Holocaust survivor, member of the New Jersey State Commission on Holocaust Education, area speaker, and local resident, will make some brief observations and remarks at the conclusion of the film and will take questions. Refreshments are included. Fee for synagogue or area Federation members is $10 for adults, for non-member adults, $15. Children age 13 - 17 are $5. This program is not advised for children under 13.
