March Tikkun Olam Collection: Boys and Girls Club

boysgirlsclubAs part of the Tikkun Olam Committee’s ongoing monthly collections, during the month of March, we will be collecting books and school supplies for the children and teenagers participating in the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton & Mercer County.

Each year more than 2300 youths participate in programs run by the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton & Mercer County.  These programs include after school programs and tutoring for K-8 children, mentoring programs for students in middle school who are at risk of dropping out, and job readiness programs for teenagers and much more.

In 2011, the Trenton Public Schools posted the worst graduation rate in New Jersey – approximately 52%.  But for those children who participated in the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton & Mercer County, the graduation rate was 98%.

Please help enrich a child’s life by donating books and school supplies.  Books can be new or gently used (but not outdated) and appropriate for children and young adultsSchool supplies can include:

  • pens
  • pencils
  • highlighters
  • erasers
  • paper
  • notebooks
  • glue
  • scissors
  • and more

Look for the collection box in the CKS lobby.  By pulling together as a community, we can make a big difference to many people.

If you would like to be a mentor or provide help with homework to children after school, please contact the Boys & Girls Club.
