May Tikkun Olam Collection: Womanspace

As part of the Tikkun Olam Committee’s ongoing monthly collections, during the month of May, CKS will be collecting children’s clothing and supplies for Womanspace.

Every 9 seconds a woman is assaulted in the US.   Every day, 3 women in the US are murdered by their intimate partner.  1 in 4 women, and 1 in 14 men will become victims of domestic violence.  1 in 5 teenage girls reports a boyfriend threatening violence or self harm when presented with a breakup.  Intimate partner violence costs the US in excess of $5.8 billion every year.

womanspaceWomanspace is the leading organization in Mercer County addressing this problem with domestic violence and sexual assault response teams, shelters, a hotline, counseling services, court advocates and community education.  Last year they helped more than 10,000 men, women and children.  Many times these individuals come to the shelters with little more than the clothes on their backs.

Let’s pull together as a community and help these victims and their children get a fresh start.

Womanspace needs new clothing for boys and girls sizes 2T-6X, teen boys and girls sizes 7-16, shoes (especially for infant – youth aged boys), sleepwear,  underwear,  pull-up diapers, sippie cups, bottle warmers, book bags, toiletries (full sized), and clean/nearly new strollers and car seats.

Please look for the collection box in the CKS lobby.
