HomeFront Picnic 2015 – Please Join Us!

Saturday, May 30th will be our 6th annual HomeFront Picnic. We will be hosting 35+ children from Trenton’s inner city homeless shelter for an afternoon of games, outdoor fun, and a big barbeque. For this to be successful, we need as many congregants and families to participate as possible. The event will run from approximately 1 – 5pm.

This year, our picnic is going to be at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association’s brand new LEED Platinum Environmental Center in Pennington. This is a terrific new environmental center with loads of displays, trails, fields, and picnic area. It is located at 31 Titus Mill Road, Pennington, NJ 08534

This is our synagogue’s biggest Tikkun Olam event of the year. If you have never joined us before, we strongly encourage you to try it out. The children from Trenton are mostly in the 9 -12 age range, with some younger and some older. They benefit so much from knowing that people care about them, and enjoying a lovely afternoon in a beautiful location. As some of you might know, Trenton is none of the above.

The afternoon consists of outdoor games, arts and crafts including face painting, a short hike to the stream, tour of the new building including time for interactive displays, and of course, a terrific barbeque that we all share. You can help with any of the above, or just join in on the fun.

Please contact Debbie Gartenberg if you want to participate or have any questions or suggestions.
