All children who attend our Religious School have the opportunity to have a bar/bat mitzvah ceremony any time after a child reaches 12-1/2 years of age. While there are standard requirements for b'nei mitzvah at Congregation Kehilat Shalom, each service is tailored to meet the needs and abilities of individual students and their families. The rabbi, prayer and torah trope tutors, and the B'nei Mitzvah Coordinator are all available to help each family prepare and plan for this joyful occasion and sacred rite of passage.
Information
Every Spring the rabbi conducts a series of classes during which upcoming b'nei mitzvah families can acquaint themselves with Congregation Kehilat Shalom policy and procedures, as well as explore the meaning attached to this important event in your family's life. A b'nei mitzvah fee is due one year prior to the service and covers tutoring costs, as well as the fee for the cantor to co-officiate at the service with the rabbi.
