As part of the Tikkun Olam Committee’s ongoing monthly collections, during the month of April, CKS will be collecting food for the Montgomery Food Bank.
Do you know somebody who is hungry? You may be surprised. In 2011, the Poverty Research Institute reported that 1 in 5 New Jersey families did not earn enough to afford the basic necessities such as food, housing and child care.As many as 55% of the food insecure households in the US don’t qualify for SNAP (formally the food stamp program) making the food pantries in our communities more needed than ever before. By pulling together as a community, we can help keep the shelves stocked with nutritious, non-perishable food and drinks.
You can help by donating canned meats and fish, canned vegetables, canned fruit, 100% fruit juice, pasta, rice, beans, cold cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter & jelly, baby food and formula, and powdered or evaporated milk.
Look for the collection box in the CKS lobby.
